Twyford News
Aircraft Noise: It is being proposed that in future, aircraft landing at Southampton airport will adopt a new flight path called Continuous Descent Approach (CDA). This will mean that aircraft line up for the runway well north of Twyford. The idea is that with this method engine power and controls will require less adjustment and this reduces aircraft noise. On the other hand it will mean that more aircraft will fly over Twyford. Flybe will be running a trial and if successful it will be extended to all aircraft. A summary of Southampton Airport's "Noise Action Plan Consultation 2009" can be found at this link together with a questionnaire for the public to give feed back of their views. Return the questionnaire by October 2nd, 2009 Breath Easy: This is an initiative of the British Lung Foundation to provide support and information for people living with a lung condition. For more information see this link. The local group meets on the first Wednesday of the month, from 2.30 - 4.30pm, at the Parish Hall, Main Road, Colden Common (opposite the church).
